Discover Birmingham

Known as Britain’s second city, Birmingham is located in central England, right in the heart of the country and is less than two hours away from London. Home to a multicultural and large international community, Birmingham is a major student city with around 80,000 students.

For a night of entertainment, the Custard Factory is home to restaurants, bars, independent shops and crazy golf. If you're looking for a more chilled venue to meet with with friends, take a stroll in the stunning tree-lined squares and go for a meal at one of Brindleyplace’s popular restaurants.

For some serious retail therapy, head to the iconic Bullring Shopping Centre, one of the UK’s top shopping and leisure destinations with over 200 high street shops to choose from.

Birmingham also has a thriving art scene as well as a rich sporting heritage and lively nightlife.

Places to explore

Birmingham is a huge city and a cultural melting pot, home to a wide variety of traditions, people and businesses. With so much to see and do, you’ll struggle to get bored here.

Victoria Square

Victoria Square functions as a historical and scenic place to visit all year round. With a lit-up fountain and statues to admire on summer nights and an unparalleled German-style Christmas market, Victoria Square will never disappoint.

Digbeth

A bohemian district known for street art and creative markets. Music fans will enjoy venues like Lab11 and the Rainbow Warehouse which plays host to world renowned artists and DJs. Refuel at Digbeth’s Dining Club – a street food market with the best food from all around the world. From The Custard Factory to Eastside Projects public art gallery.

Moseley

Moseley is just a short drive from the city centre and is a nature escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Birmingham’s most popular park, it covers 250 acres of conservation, woodland and outdoor sports facilities. Popular with walkers, cyclists and joggers, this recreational space is a sanctuary to unwind.

Brindley Place

You could say that Birmingham has more canals than Venice, and those in Brindleyplace would agree. The neighbourhood has more than just canals though, with some of the city’s best bars and restaurants found here, along with the National Sealife Centre and the Ikon Gallery.

How to get around

Birmingham has a range of efficient public transport including a network of buses, trams and trains. There is also a pay-as-you-go council ran e-scooter scheme and lots of cycling routes around the city.

Buses

The Network West Midlands has plenty of routes that will take you to surrounding neighbourhoods and to the city centre. Their fares can be paid with contactless and there are online timetables and fare information to check out too. Perfect for whatever trip you’re planning.

Tram

The Midland Metro services run to Bull Street in the centre of the city, to Corporation Street, New Street Station and Broad Street. Whilst the services are limited at the moment, the city is currently building more tram lines around the area.
